Gratta Studio is a small, independent, fully remote WordPress and WooCommerce engineering studio, founded in 2007 in Kyiv and led from Valencia. Senior engineering, a modern toolchain, and AI-assisted development where it makes the work faster and better.

How we work

Almost two decades on WordPress, the last of them on WordPress and WooCommerce only. Git, CI, tests and monitoring on every project, however small. AI where it makes engineers faster, people responsible for what ships.

   Small and independent

   A small studio, not a department: no account managers, no hand-offs. The engineer you talk to on the first call designs the solution, writes the code and reviews every pull request. Specialists join a project when it needs them.

   Fully remote

   Founded in Kyiv, led from Valencia, working with clients across Europe and beyond. Remote by default means written plans, a repository you can read at any time, staging you can click through, and calls only when they are worth everyone's time.

   AI-assisted development

   AI tools are part of the workflow, and have been for long enough to know where they help and where they do not. Research, scaffolding, debugging, generating and extending tests, code review, documentation and the repetitive parts of automation all move faster with AI in the loop. That is how a small studio delivers with the throughput of a larger one.

   Human expertise stays in charge

   AI is a tool in the workflow, not the engineer. Every change it touches is read, tested and owned by a person who understands the codebase and the business. We do not ship code we cannot explain, and we do not use AI as a substitute for engineering judgement, security review or maintainability.

Standards we publish

Stated on the studio's GitHub profile and applied on every project.

1. 01

   One project structure

   Every project starts from the same repository layout, tooling and conventions. Onboarding an engineer takes hours, not weeks, and nothing depends on one person's memory.

2. 02

   Tested, automatically

   Unit and integration tests for the code we write, end-to-end tests for the flows that matter, all running in CI. Regressions are caught by a pipeline, not by a client.

3. 03

   Coding standards enforced

   WordPress Coding Standards, static analysis and code review on every change. It is slower on day one and much faster by month six.

4. 04

   Performance by measurement

   We profile before we optimise and we ship with numbers. Caching, query design and asset strategy are decided from data, not from a plugin's marketing page.

5. 05

   Secure by default

   Least privilege, hardened configuration, dependency updates and a plan for incidents. Security is part of the definition of done, not a separate quote.

6. 06

   Built to be maintained

   Public WordPress APIs only, documented decisions, reproducible environments. The next team (or the next version of us) can pick it up without archaeology.
